A metronome helps prevent slacking off

Today I did bench presses.

I used a metronome I found on Google, set it to 100 bpm, and tried doing 10 reps with 60 kg in a three-beat rhythm, but the pace was too fast and I ended up doing them with a slight bounce in my chest.

For the second set, I set it to 80 bpm, and I was able to do them carefully, which was good.

I kept it at 80 bpm for the third set, but I couldn’t keep up with the pace and the three-beat rhythm fell apart.

For the fourth set, I lowered it to 64 bpm and managed 9 reps.

Using a metronome is good because I don’t have to set the pace myself, which makes it harder to slack off or give up.

Come to think of it, my right elbow cracked when I lowered the bar at the start today, so I tried doing it with a thumb-less grip. With a thumb-around grip, my shoulder feels strained, so I’d like to stick with the thumb-less grip from now on.
